Investigation into the care of a patient in Causeway Hospital

The Northern Trust failed to develop an appropriate plan for managing a patient’s incontinence during his stay in Causeway Hospital.

Report recommendations

We asked the Trust to apologise for the failures in care which caused the patient to experience indignity and discomfort, and the complainant, his son, distress.

We also asked it to carry out a review of how it assesses and manages patients’ incontinence.
